BOSTON—The world's largest gathering of the biotechnology industry, the BIO International Convention, is heading back to Boston in 2012.
The announcement Monday by Gov. Deval Patrick and Mayor Thomas Menino comes as Massachusetts tries to bolster its reputation as a hub for the biotech industry.
Patrick last year signed a 10-year, $1 billion life sciences law. The initiative included tax credits to lure life sciences companies to Massachusetts and research grants to encourage biotech companies already located in the state to continue conducting their research here.
The biotechnology convention has been held in Boston before, including in 2007.![]()
