ImmunoGen Inc., a Waltham biotechnology company that develops targeted anticancer products, said Stephen C. McCluski has been named board chairman, replacing former chief executive Mitchel Sayare.

Sayare continues on the board as a director; in addition, the company said in a press release Howard Pien was elected to its board at its annual meeting.

McCluski has served on the ImmunoGen board since April 2007. He was the senior vice president and chief financial officer of Bausch & Lomb Inc. before his retirement in 2007, ImmunoGen said. Pien was chairman and chief executive of Medarex Inc. from 2007 to its acquisition by Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. in September.
