NEW YORK — Momenta Pharmaceuticals Inc. is suing rival Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. in a patent dispute over generic versions of the anticlotting drug Lovenox.

The Cambridge, Mass., company said it filed a lawsuit alleging Teva, an Israeli company, violated two patents related to its generic version of the drug.

Lovenox, or enoxaparin, is used to prevent dangerous blood clots. The original version is made by Sanofi-Aventis SA.

In July, the Food and Drug Administration approved generic versions of Lovenox developed by Momenta and Novartis AG.
