With ZipCar planning to move to Boston’s Innovation District next year, four public companies have now committed to Mayor Thomas M. Menino’s vision of revitalizing the South Boston waterfront as a hub for entrepreneurs. As Scott Kirsner noted, the Cantabrigian cars-haring service will be joining Vertex Pharma, also currently in Cambridge, and LogMeIn, currently in Woburn. Bryan McGowan pointed out EnerNOC is also relocating to the Fan Pier, from downtown Boston.
Together, the four companies represent about $12.8 billion dollars of market capitalization moving into the growing hub, which also serves as the temporary home to dozens of MassChallenge participants and other high-growth companies.
