After having a tough time finding eco-friendly diapers for her two daughters, Jessica Alba took matters into her own hands. The actress founded Honest, an e-commerce company that manufactures and sells biodegradable diapers. Cambridge funder General Catalyst Partners is invested in the company.
Justin Bieber
At 18, Justin Bieber has an enormous fan base, a high-grossing movie, and millions invested in several Silicon Valley-area startups, including Stamped, Tinychat, and Spotify. His manager, Scott Braun, told Forbes getting Bieber to invest in social media companies helps him benefit directly from something that appeals to his core audience.
Bono
Dublin native and U2 front man Bono is a cofounder of venture capital firm Elevation Partners, which has invested in Facebook, MarketShare, and Yelp.

Retired basketball legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson is on the investment team at Detroit Venture Partners, which invests primarily in digital media and social networking.

Ashton Kutcher, who played the doofy Michael Kelso on “That ’70s Show,” is anything but stupid when it comes to investing. He owns shares of deals site fab.com, video chat frontrunner Skype, and location-based networking site Foursquare. He loves investing so much that the start up he founded is a venture capital firm, called A-Grade Investments.

Justin Timberlake has conquered the charts and the big screen, so it makes sense he’s taken a stab at the investment world as well. He’s invested in Stipple, which lets users monetize their photographs. He also owns a share of dwindling social network MySpace, which he and his team hope to turn into more of an artist-centric service.
