Bedford’s iRobot Corp. is loving Google right now.
Just days after the Silicon Valley search giant bought the Waltham robotics company Boston Dynamics, iRobot stock started surging. It jumped 17 percent on Tuesday alone.
It appears that Google Inc. has woken up Wall Street to the fact that robots are everywhere these days — in homes, warehouses, factory floors, on the war front, and in hospitals. And if Google is interested, there must be riches in robotics, too.
Its acquisition of Boston Dynamics, the maker of animal and humanlike robots for the Pentagon, follows Google’s decision to buy seven other companies that are involved with robotics — from building ones for the workplace to helping design their components.
