TripAdvisor Inc. already owned the airline-seat website SeatGuru. Now the Newton company is growing its guru status with GateGuru, an “everything airport” app that delivers up-to-the-minute flight information, security wait times, gate changes, and other departure details.
The mobile app adds to TripAdvisor’s growing online travel empire, which includes 20 websites along with its flagship review site.
Users help supply content for GateGuru, which also includes airport maps, restaurant and store details, and weather forecasts. Forbes last month named the app as one of its “30 Must-Have iPhone Apps For Frequent Flyers”—a list that also includes TripAdvisor and SeatGuru.
