Raytheon Co., the Waltham-based defense contractor with $24 billion in 2012 sales, said it has acquired Visual Analytics Inc., a Maryland firm that specializes in data analytics and data visualization.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
A large processor of data for the intelligence community, Raytheon has extensive experience handling large data sets and providing actionable information to its customers.
“The acquisition of Visual Analytics will add advanced analytic products and knowledge management solutions with intuitive user interfaces to Raytheon’s offerings to its customers,” Raytheon said in a press release. “It will also broaden the company’s customer base in federal, state, and local law enforcement.”
In a statement, Lynn Dugle, the president of Raytheon’s Intelligence, Information, and Services business, said: “The addition of Visual Analytics will further strengthen Raytheon’s capabilities in the area of data analytics.
