Boston-based online insurance agency Consumer United said Thursday it has hired former ETrade executive Joshua S. Levine as president of operations.
On the heels of a $52.5 million funding round earlier this year, the addition of Levine gives the growing, 6-year-old company another leader with experience in consumer technology. Levine worked at ETrade from 1999 to 2006, serving as chief technology officer and chief operations officer.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to have Josh join our rapidly expanding team,” Consumer United chief executive Justin Dangel said in a statement. “His wide breadth of knowledge and expertise will help guide us during this period of immense growth and opportunity for our company.”
Consumer United’s web and mobile services allow users to compare home and auto insurance packages from competing insurers. The company has added about 100 employees since February, when it raised the funding round, and now has more than 300.
“Consumer United’s great people, smart technologies and data-driven approach, is dedicated to helping consumers save time and money,” Levine said. “I’m very excited to be a part of this team.”
