The Standard & Poor’s 500 barely kept a streak of weekly advances alive at seven weeks. The index has advanced every week since the start of the year.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 8.37 points, or 0.1 percent, to 13,981.76.

The S&P 500 index fell 1.59, or 0.1 percent, to 1,519.79.

The Nasdaq composite fell 6.63, or 0.2 percent, to 3,192.03.

For the week:

The Dow is down 11.21 points, or less than 0.1 percent.

The S&P 500 is up 1.86 points, or 0.1 percent.

The Nasdaq is down 1.84 points, or less than 0.1 percent.

For the year:

The Dow is up 877.62 points, or 6.7 percent.

The S&P 500 is up 93.60 points, or 6.6 percent.

The Nasdaq is up 172.52 points, or 5.7 percentend of story marker
