3M, the manufacturer with product lines as diverse as electronics and dental braces, climbed 2.9 percent Tuesday for the biggest advance on the Dow index after it reported that earnings will be $7.30 to $7.55 a share next year. That compares with an average estimate of $7.40 among 17 analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. Also, the Minnesota company increased its quarterly dividend by 35 percent to 85.5 cents a share.
