NEW YORK—Wall Street has closed down after Microsoft Corp.'s decision to withdraw its bid for Yahoo Inc. and after oil set a new record over $120 a barrel.

Investors are downcast after Microsoft scrapped a $43.7 billion to buy Yahoo Inc. The companies could not agree on a sale price.

The decline has left the Dow Jones industrial average down about 88 points at the 12,969 level.
