Weis Markets promotes Hepfinger to CEO position

SUNBURY, Pa.—Supermarket chain operator Weis Markets Inc. said Monday it has promoted Chief Operating Officer David J. Hepfinger to succeed retiring Chief Executive Norman S. Rich.

Rich, 70, had served as CEO since April 2002, according to CapitalIQ.

Hepfinger, 50, will be responsible for the company's entire operations. He will report to Chairman Robert F. Weis and Vice Chairman Jonathan Weis.

Weis Markets runs 155 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia. It also owns pet supply chain SuperPetz.
