American Greetings Corp. surged yesterday, as the second-largest US maker of greeting cards posted profit, excluding some items, of 40 cents a share in the second quarter, more than six times the average analyst estimate. The Cleveland company also boosted its full-year cash-flow forecast. Decreases in production costs and other expenses helped offset a 7.6 percent sales decline.
