A sharp decline in sales led to lower fourth-quarter profit for Sonic, which runs a chain of drive-in restaurants. Sonic shares tumbled a day after the Oklahoma-based company posted results. Profit fell 17 percent because of a 23 percent drop in revenue. Same-store sales fell 4.5 percent. A Wedbush Morgan analyst questioned Sonic’s plans to open nearly 1,000 restaurants over the next year.![]()
