NutriSystem, the Horsham, Pa., company that sells prepared meals to help clients lose weight, posted earnings excluding some items of 27 cents a share in the third quarter, topping average estimates of 24 cents per share. The company, which advertises its system using entertainers and former sports stars as spokesmen, said revenue fell 22 percent as the economic downturn hurt its business.
