Sales at Children’s Place Retail Stores Inc. were better than expected in October, which boosted shares. The New Jersey-based retailer said same-store sales slipped 2 percent. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected a decline of 3.1 percent. Online sales jumped 36 percent for the month. Children’s Place predicts third-quarter earnings of $1.35 to $1.39 per share.
