Speculation that Leap Wireless International could be acquired by larger rival MetroPCS Communications Inc. drove up shares of both cellphone companies. A German newspaper reported Deutsche Telekom, parent of T-Mobile, may consider buying MetroPCS to help with expansion costs. A Pali Capital analyst then said MetroPCS should buy Leap to save $200 million annually.
