Marriott International Inc., the largest US hotel chain, expects revenue per available room to increase this year, president Arne Sorenson said. “We will move from negative to positive revpar this year,’’ he said. Marriott shares climbed the most in five months. Last week, Marriott said fourth-quarter room revenue probably fell 14 to 16 percent outside North America and 13 to 14 percent on the continent. “Our level of optimism is rising based on anecdotes from our customers and hotels,’’ Sorenson said. “It’s mostly anecdotal at this point, but it makes us hope that the economy is improving.’’
