Stocks finished mostly flat (the Dow slipped), held back by Cisco and Akamai. Both issued weak profit forecasts. The Dow ended an 8-day winning streak; other indexes had slight gains. Cisco’s government sales are suffering, and Akamai says rivals are forcing it to offer lower prices. Stocks traded lower much of the day despite a fall in claims for jobless benefits.
