Stocks of Miami-based Lennar and other homebuilders rose after a report that work began on 3.5 percent more new houses last month than in April, exceeding expectations. A gauge of 12 home builders in S&P indexes rallied 1.6 percent. KB Home gained 1.9 percent; D.R. Horton Inc. and Pulte Group each advanced about 1.6 percent. Toll Brothers Inc. rose 0.9 percent.
