Motorola Mobility rose the most since it started trading in December, on the urging of Carl Icahn to squeeze profits from its vast patent portfolio. Icahn’s prod comes after Nortel Networks sold a portfolio of wireless patents for $4.5 billion. There’s a scramble for patents by tech firms as they seek to shore up litigation defenses. Nearly every smartphone maker is suing another over patents.
