DeVry Inc., the operator of DeVry University, said new undergraduate enrollment declined 26 percent. State and federal officials have been investigating for-profit colleges, and the Education Department has put new restrictions on funding for education companies, which get up to 90 percent of their revenue from government aid to students. Adjusting to those rule created “distractions’’ for employees that hurt performance, DeVry said. “Enrollment has been most impacted by the prolonged economic downturn and continued high unemployment, which has led some potential students to defer or refrain from making the commitment to enroll in college,’’ DeVry said.![]()
