Sycamore Networks Inc., a maker of communications equipment, reported a $3.6 million loss that amounted to 13 cents per share for the quarter ended July 31. A year earlier, the company had profit of $521,000, or 2 cents per share. Excluding a stock-based compensation expense, Sycamore lost 9 cents per share in the latest quarter. Revenue slid 41 percent to $13 million. For the full year, Sycamore lost $17.8 million, or 62 cents per share. That compares with a loss of $14.8 million, or 52 cents, for the previous year. Annual revenue fell 29 percent to $48.7 million.
