Bedford-based Acme Packet Inc. slumped after the maker of devices to transmit phone calls and video said third-quarter earnings excluding some items were 21 cents a share, missing the average analyst estimate by 1 cent. The company said total revenue in the period was $70.6 million, compared to $56.6 million in the same quarter last year. Net income fell to $7.9 million, or 11 cents, compared to $10.5 million, or 15 cents, in the prior year. For the year, Acme expects total revenue of $315 million $320 million with earnings per share of between 78 cents and 82 cents.![]()
