TJX stores post gain in sales for Nov.
In November, same-store sales increased 4 percent for TJX Cos., the Framingham-based company that runs retail chains including T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods. Same-store sales, or sales at stores open at least a year, are considered a good indicator of a retailer’s performance. Much of TJX sales comes from clothing, but demand can be affected by the weather. TJX chief executive Carol Meyrowitz said sales increases were achieved “despite the unseasonably warm weather in November, which hampered demand for cold-weather apparel.’’
