Colorado-based DigitalGlobe surged after GeoEye Inc. made a ‘friendly’ offer for about $792 million to create the world’s largest commercial imagery satellite firm and help cope with US defense budget cuts. Virginia-based GeoEye chief executive Matt O’Connell said the combined company “will be better positioned to provide the US government with time-sensitive geospatial intelligence.’’
