Your thoughts on Comcast buying Disney

This morning Comcast proposed to buy Walt Disney, the iconic media and entertainment powerhouse that owns ABC and ESPN, movie studios and theme parks, in a deal that would total $66 billion.

We asked for your thoughts on the surprising possibility of this mega-media merger.

Is there nothing sacred in this world anymore? Does Comcast really need to buy Disney? They practically have a monopoly in my area in terms of cable and despite that the rates keep going up, up and away! I hope that doesn't happen to ticket prices to the Magic Kingdom too!

Well, I do not know the ins and outs of how Comcast runs their company regarding customer service, etc. I think that The Walt Disney Company should not allow a purchase to go through because there is nothing wrong in how they are running their resorts now. I just returned from there this past January and would be disappointed that if a sale went through and they were to run their parks llike some other major theme parks- lacking customer service, etc - I would have to reconsider vacationing there again.

As long as my son can watch the Wiggles I have no problem with it.

When is enough enough for this company? I find it difficult to believe that the competitive balance is being maintained. They own their sports teams, the arena, the announcers, the cable....and virtually everything else. The yare also not shy about advertising. Just wait folks--Mickey Mouse and Chris berman in Comcast shirts.

Can anyone say monopoly in regulatory world? a mickeymouse operation buying Disney somehow seems appropriate buying a company with billions of dollars of debt is just the bestest business decision ever! I cannot wait for my cable bill to skyrocket even more to pay off the billions of dollars of debt they will acquire on tope of their own debt!

The Fat Cat is chasing Mickey Mouse...again!

If this deal goes through, it will probably mean that instead of a huge rate hike once a year, we'll start seeing them every six months. Maybe it will make the cable converter more valuable, so they can raise the monthly rate on that (you're still paying the same for the SERVICE...). If it weren't such a PITA changing e-mail addresses, I'd have already switched to DSL by now...
