Your thoughts on the Howard Stern suspension

For the second time in two days, the largest radio station chain in the nation -- Clear Channel Radio -- has taken action against a disc jockey. This time it's popular "shock jock" Howard Stern, who has been suspended.

Under pressure from federal regulators and lawmakers, broadcasters are revisiting their indecency standards. Is this fallout from the Super Bowl halftime fiasco? Is this a blatant disregard for freedom of speech? Send your thoughts.

I don't happen to listen to Stern's program but I am concerned whenever "Big Brother" decides for me what I am "ALLOWED" to listen to. This is yet another example of the conservative right brow beating the media into airing only what it deems appropriate.

The most frightening comment comes from Clear Channel president Mark Mays, who said, "If we or the government ultimately determine the offending broadcast is indecent, the DJ will be terminated." As someone who doesn't care much for Stern's show, I believe Mays and those who feel his actions are warranted pose a far greater threat to America than Howard Stern ever could.

THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE THAT SPEND FAR TOO MUCH TIME WORRYING ABOUT WHO'S GOING TO GET OFFENDED BY WHAT THESE DAYS THAT OUR RIGHTS ARE BEING THREATENED. GET OVER YOURSELVES AND LIGHTEN UP A LITTLE. LIFE SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN SO SERIOUSLY, HAVE A LITTLE FUN AND LET THE PEOPLE MAKE THEIR OWN DECISIONS. YOUR KIDS WILL THANK YOU IN THE FUTURE! WE REALLY DON'T NEED YOU TO MAKE OUR CHOICES FOR US. THANKS ANYWAY. YOU'RE NOT BEING FORCED TO LISTEN SO DON'T FORCE ANYONE ELSE NOT TO. THE GOVERNMENT ALREADY CONTROLS FAR TOO MUCH OF THE MEDIA. FREEDOM OF SPEACH ALL THE WAY!!!!!

Good riddance to bad rubbish! Howard Stern contributes absolutely nothing to an enlightened and progressive society. Let him pack-up his club and let him return to the era of Cro-Magnon man!

Everyone knows what type of show Howard Stern broadcasts. He has a huge audience of adults who enjoy his humor; I am included in this group. For those people who are offended by his show fortunately they have at least two alternatives: 1) turn the radio off; or 2) tune into another station. We don't need the government to make this decision for us.

I only wish they made the decision to pull his shows sooner and across the whole board. Personally, I thought his shows were tasteless and degrading to women.

So freedom of speech means speach which does not offend anyone??? Welcome to the USSR!!!! Love or Hate Stern, THis is a SAD day for Americans!!!!

How many people that post against this "censorship" are parents? It's very easy for them to sit back and say "turn it off or change the channel" when they don't have to worry about their kids listening to it. I personally don't listen to him, but he has every right to say what he wants on the air. My problem is with the time that the show airs. His show should be on at night, so I don't have to worry about my son listening to him on his headphones while we walks between classes at school.

I don't understand why Howard Stern was suspended for the language used by a call-in listener? Shouldn't the person who used the N-word be fined and not Howard?
