SPRINGFIELD — MGM Resorts International will reveal its plans for a Springfield casino at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the MassMutual Convention Center in Springfield.

Jim Murren, chairman and CEO of MGM, along with other members of the MGM executive team, will unveil the company’s plans, according to an MGM statement.

It will be Murren’s second casino announcement in Massachusetts this year, following an attempt by MGM to build in Brimfield in January. The company abandoned those plans after concluding the site it had chosen would not fit its needs.

MGM would be the second casino operator to announce firm plans for a Springfield resort. The first was Ameristar, which is seeking casino development rights on a parcel several miles from downtown. Two other companies, Hard Rock International and Penn National, are also believed to be pursuing casino bids in the city.end of story marker
