Want to get a jump on the new fall TV season? Comcast says that’s now possible for its cable TV subscribers, thanks to a feature called Fall TV Fest on Xfinity On Demand.
Through Sept 22., Comcast customers have early access to the pilot episodes of 20 new series in advance of their premiere dates on Xfinity On Demand, including Ironside (NBC), Trophy Wife (ABC), We are Men (CBS), and Welcome to the Family (NBC).
Comcast said it is also offering full season, catch-up episodes of the most recent season of popular returning series include Chicago Fire (NBC), The Mindy Project (FOX), The Walking Dead (AMC), Boardwalk Empire (HBO), Dexter (Showtime), The Good Wife (CBS), Homeland (Showtime), Dance Moms (Lifetime), and Duck Dynasty (A&E).
According to Comcast, its Xfinity On Demand platform is drawing 400 million views each month. An analysis of that data can offer some insights on viewing patterns.
For example, 60 percent of what its customers watch on Xfinity On Demand is TV shows., Comcast said.
And despite the slew of content available across more devices, Comcast says its data indicate that peak viewing time – no matter on TV, PC, tablet or smartphone—is still between 8-11 p.m. a.k.a. primetime.
One other data point: Premiering a new show’s pilot episode on demand before it debuts live can build buzz and drive ratings for the new series, Comcast said.
