TA Associates, a private equity firm with offices in Boston, said Tuesday that it has completed a majority investment in SoftWriters Holdings Inc., a Pennsylvania-based provider of pharmacy management software to the long-term care industry.
Terms of the investment were not disclosed. TA directors Mark H. Carter and Harry D. Taylor and TA vice president Ethan K. Liebermann will join SoftWriters board of directors.
SoftWriters’ software is designed to help long-term care pharmacies (or LTC pharmacies) reduce costs, improve accuracy. and enhance communication. Pharmacy clients include assisted living and skilled nursing facilities, continuing care retirement communities, and correctional facilities. The company’s core offering is called FrameworkLTC.
“SoftWriters’ products truly empower long-term care pharmacies, helping them improve service to their LTC facility clients,” Carter said in a statement. “FrameworkLTC is considered by many to be the leading product in the industry based on functionality, ability to interface with long-term care facilities and clinical systems, and an easy-to-use Web portal.
