For those who may get an insufficient jolt from a Dunkin’ Donuts coffee, the Canton-based chain is now locally offering a new product that contains caffeine in solid form.
Available at participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants throughout the Greater Boston market, the new product is the Dunkin’ Donuts Energy Bar, which contains B vitamins and protein as well as caffeine and coffee, said a company that likes to push the envelope on hand-held cuisine.
Down a Joe and an energy bar at the same time and, presumably, a Dunkin’ Donuts customer can achieve full morning lift-off. Turbo-charge that coffee with an espresso shot, and customers won’t just be running on Dunkin’ --- but likely sprinting at Usain Bolt velocities and leaving vapor trails in their wakes.
Sold pre-wrapped in Original, French Vanilla and Hazelnut flavors, Dunkin’ Donuts Energy Bars are designed to “provide a quick pick-me-up in a convenient and portable snack to keep guests fueled all throughout the day,” the coffee-and-baked-goods chain said.
Dunkin’ Donuts has more than 10,500 restaurants around the world. in 31 countries worldwide. In 2012, Dunkin’ Donuts’ restaurants had global franchisee-reported sales of $6.9 billion. Chris Reidy can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
