MassHousing, the quasi-public agency charged with providing financing for affordable housing in the Bay State, has scheduled a free Homebuyer Fair for Saturday at the Dartmouth Mall.

Plans call for the event to run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Attendees will be able to meet with MassHousing staff, lenders, real estate agents, and home builders who will be on hand to discuss how best to buy a home or renovate or refinance a current home.

MassHousing partners with 150 lenders that originate MassHousing’s suite of fixed-rate home mortgage loans for income-eligible home buyers. These loans have low down payment options and competitive interest rates.

One product is designed for borrowers who put less than 20 percent down on a home. They can receive MassHousing’s MI Plus, an enhanced mortgage insurance policy that helps pay the borrower’s mortgage for up to six months in the event they lose their job, the agency said.
