The nation’s second largest e-commerce merchant is teaming up with the largest Internet retailer of home furnishings and decor to bolster its online assortment.
Staples Inc. began hosting hundreds of Wayfair.com products on its website Tuesday. The items are still shipped and sold through Wayfair, but the deal will help Staples get closer to its goal of becoming a one stop shop for businesses.
The Framingham company said Wayfair’s products will vastly expand its selection of goods and add new categories of outdoor furniture, exercise equipment and kitchenware.
Wayfair, headquartered in Boston, has similar partnerships with Amazon.com and Walmart.com, which both offer its entire catalog. Staples hopes to increase its Wayfair assortment to include more than 50,000 products by early next year.
