The developer and architect of the Ink Block project in the South End have just released new rendering of their plans to reinvent space once occupied the Boston Herald newspaper.
There are four residential buildings currently planned --- one luxury condo building which will be ready for occupancy in mid-2015 and three others with rental apartments which will be ready in early 2015. A full-size Whole Foods Market, with roughly 50,000 square feet of space, is also scheduled to open in early 2015, said National Development of Newton, the project’s developer. The architect on the project is Elkus Manfredi Architects.
In the Elkus Manfredi rendering above, the eight-story building on the left is called Sepia. At the corner of Harrison Avenue and Traveler Street, Sepia will have 83 condo units with views of the city’s skyline. The other two buildings in the rendering are rental buildings known as 3 Ink and 2 Ink. Along with a third rental building known as 1 Ink, they are designed to house 315 rental units. The Whole Foods Market will occupy space in 2 Ink.
The Ink Block is envisioned as a six-building project, but National Development has yet to make public its plans for the final two buildings.
