Boston regulators Thursday night approved the city’s first parking-free condominium building next to North Station, setting a bold precedent in an effort to reduce automobile use in the densely-packed downtown.
The 175-unit condominium building is slated to rise at Lovejoy Wharf, a complex of residences, offices and retail stores on property off Causeway Street near TD Garden. A new headquarters for Converse Inc. is already under construction on the site, and the 15-story residential building will come next.
The Boston Redevelopment Authority voted Thursday to change previously-approved plans for the project to eliminate a 315-space parking garage—a move the developers had requested to make the project more financially feasible. Full story for BostonGlobe.com subscribers.
