Millennium breaks ground on office-and-lab building in Cambridge

Drugmaker Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Company held a Thursday groundbreaking ceremony for a Cambridge office-and-lab building that will initially be used for cancer research. The 246,000 square foot building is located at 300 Massachusetts Ave. near the campus of the MIT. Millennium expects about 600 of its employees to start moving into its new space in mid 2016. The company currently has nearly 1,200 employees in Massachusetts. “I’m very pleased that Takeda has chosen to invest in this new facility that will grow jobs in Massachusetts,”Governor Deval Patrick said in a statement. “As part of our recent meeting with the company’s leadership in Japan, we discussed how Massachusetts and Japan are already significant partners and how there are many opportunities for mutual growth.”
