As Fahrenheits plummet to polar vortex levels and weather forecasters talk about blizzard warnings, the Yankee Candle Co. wants to take your nose on a tropical vacation.

The Deerfield company has long specialized in scented candles, and its latest collection, dubbed “Exotic Escapes,” seems to be designed to evoke Caribbean getaways and Hawaiian beach parties. Indeed, the names for individual candles sound as if they could have been lifted from the drink menu at Trader Vic’s.

Citrus Tango, for example, has been alchemized to “shake things up with this lively, playful melody of sunny orange, lemon zest, and grapefruit,” Yankee Candle’s press release notes.

Then there’s Luau Party, which is described this way by Yankee Candle publicists: “Every day is a festival with the fun and fruity mix of orange fizz, sparkling peach, and vanilla ice.”

Another new scent is “Exotic Bloom.” The low-down on this one: “Deep in the tropical night, the seductive perfume of island flora creates an air of mystery and romance.”

According to the release, $27.99 is the suggested retail price for a large jar or a large tumbler candle featuring one of the new fragrances.

To promote the debut of this new line-up, Yankee Candle said that it is launching an Exotic Escapes sweepstakes that will reward one lucky winner with a real-life tropical getaway to Grand Cayman Island. “All of our fragrances can evoke another time and place, and we wanted to highlight that characteristic with this new line,” Hope Margala Klein, Yankee Candle’s executive vice president of brand, design, and innovation, said in a statement. “With this collection launching when our customers need an escape from the winter doldrums, our Exotic Escape sweepstakes serves as an extra welcome treat.”
