Barbara’s, a Marlborough company focused on healthful foods, said that its organic Snackimals cereal has been cited as a top product of 2013 by Phil Lempert, a self-described “consumerologist” and author who bills himself as the “Supermarket Guru.”

Noting that only 8 percent of people keep healthy eating resolutions in the New Year, Lempert called Barbara’s Organic Snackimals Cinnamon Crunch Cereal “a perfect healthy cereal for both kids and adults,” Barbara’s said in a press release.

Organic Snackimals Cereals feature endangered animal shapes that represent Barbara’s Snackimals characters, including lions, elephants and panda bears; Snackimals come in three flavors: Cinnamon Crunch, Vanilla Blast, and Chocolate Crisp.

The release included a statement from Lizzie Bell, senior associate brand manager at Barbara’s.

“This recognition from Supermarket Guru is a point of pride for us because we truly believe wholesome foods should be delicious and fun,” Bell said. “The fact that a cereal that’s organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, contains 8g of whole grains and only 7g of sugar per serving is also being recognized for its delicious taste and appetite appeal is a step in the right direction.”
