Mercury Systems Inc., a Chelmsford-based provider of Big Data processing systems, announced that it has received $3.1 million in new orders from a leading defense prime contractor for high performance, digital signal processing modules for an unmanned airborne signals intelligence application.

The orders were booked and shipped in Mercury’s fiscal 2014 second quarter, the company said in a press release.

“This order exemplifies the important role Mercury plays in helping primes meet the challenging demands of decreased funding and DoD acquisition reform by integrating open, standards-based technology to improve performance while protecting legacy investments,” Didier Thibaud, president of Mercury’s commercial electronics business unit, said in a statement. “We are proud of our continuing partnership with our customer and ongoing work on high performance SIGINT (signals intelligence) solutions that improve US intelligence capabilities in global military operations.”
