Mayor Thomas P. Koch on Tuesday gave Street-Works Development LLC, the master developer of the Quincy Center revitalization, 30 days to begin the next phase of the $1.6 billion development.
“We made a decision to put Street-Works on notice, effective tomorrow . . . that they are in default, and they have a 30-day period to resolve those issues,’’ said Koch.
The mayor’s comments are the latest blow to Street-Works. Last week, the mayor and private investors revealed they were negotiating to remove Street-Works entirely from the Merchants Row phase, where construction has begun. Now the company is facing the prospect of removal from the entire project.
