Chelsea Clinton has parlayed her status as presidential progeny into a lucrative job at NBC. Now we know how much she earned from it.

POLITICO reported that Clinton once received a whopping $600,000 annual salary from NBC for her (almost negligible) work there.

The salary was unearthed after the network changed Clinton’s annual contract to one that functions on a month-by-month basis so that Clinton could sever ties to NBC should her mother decide to run for president.

Since her salary came to light, commentators have argued that Clinton was grossly overpaid at NBC.

Even Jill Abramson, arguably among the most powerful female journalists today, earned less than Clinton. During her tenure as executive editor of The New York Times, Abramson received an annual salary of $500,000 and shepherded the organization to win eight Pulitzer Prizes.

What did Clinton do at NBC? She talked to the Geico Gecko. The hard-hitting interview touched on the Gecko’s embarrassing high school yearbook photo.

Clinton also worked on several other projects for the show “Rock Center with Brian Williams,” where her debut prompted Washington Post writer Hank Stuever to suggest that she may be “one of the most boring people of her era.”

Since Rock Center’s cancellation in June 2013, Clinton has turned her energies to occasional packages for NBC Nightly News.

Clinton has had a lot on her plate over the last few years. She recently emerged as a charitable force and now stands at the helm of the Clinton charitable organization, which was renamed the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation this year.

She has also taken the spotlight since announcing her pregnancy in April.

Clinton was the second daughter of a president to join the team at NBC, which has a long tradition of hiring the daughters of major political figures. The network hired Jenna Bush Hager in 2009. She now serves as a correspondent on the TODAY show.

Clinton joined NBC as a special correspondent during 2011.
