Somerville’s Assembly Row is opening its doors to children—moreso than it already had.

According to The Banker and Tradesman, four new retailers that cater to young children—Stride Rite, Gymboree, Carter’s and OshKosh B’gosh—will open storefronts at Assembly Row, starting in August. The stores carry shoes and clothing for children, babies and toddlers.

The news coincides with the debut of a new play area slated to open Saturday at the Baxter Riverfront Park, just steps from the shops at Assembly Row. The area also features the Legoland Discovery Center, which probably has some overlap with the youthful clientele.
