Death and taxes may be two certainties in life, but for today only taxes could very well end up being your salvation — especially if you’re hungry.

But even without the hunger pangs, taxpayers are being given a way to not part with their money today. Or at least not much money, in some cases.

From fast food to a more traditional dining experience to other services, a handful of businesses in the area today are offering select free and discounted services to choose from.

Bruegger’s is hoping that people enjoy bagels for more than just breakfast with a day-long special tax-day promo for its baked, bready treats.

Newton-based Boston Market wants taxpayers to reward themselves for their furious filing with its “Tax Meal Chicken Deal.”

Arby’s is in its fourth year of giving away its signature curly fries “because taxes are difficult.” All you need is this coupon.

Sticking with the fast food theme, Sonic is offering half-price discounts on its drinks and slushes today, calling the promotion a tax day “deduction.”

Hard Rock Cafe is offering free dinner — with a catch: If you get up in front of your fellow diners, grab the mic and sing a song to the entire restaurant, you will be served an entree of your choice at no cost. Aside from your pride, of course.

Italian restaurant Salvatore’s is making its menu available tax-free at each of its five locations, according to Bostinno.

And if you’re good on food but perhaps are taking the day to remove some post-tax clutter, you may as well take advantage of Office Depot’s offer to shred up to five pounds of any documents.

Finally, when it’s all said and done and you’re looking to relieve the stress tax day brings to many of us, head over to HydroMassage for a free rub down.

Now, will all these complimentary and discounted services help us forget about the taxes we paid in 2013? It’s not likely, but for some of us it sure will help; at least for one day.
