IRS delays filing deadline for Boston bomb victims

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Internal Revenue Service says victims of the Boston Marathon bombings can take an additional three months to file and pay their federal income taxes.
The agency announced Tuesday that all residents of Suffolk County, Mass., including the city of Boston, can take the additional time to file. People affected by bombing who live elsewhere can claim the extension by calling the IRS at 1-866-562-5227, starting April 23.
Monday’s bombing occurred on the traditional tax filing deadline. Acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller said the agency wants the victims and others affected by the bombings to have the time they need to finish their taxes.
