A new Massachusetts law will bar insurers from using credit scores to set auto insurance rates, a controversial practice that critics say discriminates against good drivers who have lost jobs, piled up medical bills, or run into other financial troubles. The law, signed by Governor Deval Patrick last month, puts into statute existing regulations that already prohibited insurers from using credit scores to set auto rates. Proponents of the law say it will make it harder to undo these rules
