If you're into checking out businesses and have an iPhone, the Better Business Bureau has a handy tool for you.

The BBB has a new iPhone app that lets consumers check on a company's complaint history.

As a consumer, the BBB data is handy to check on the reliability and complaint resolution history of a business. When looking at BBB data, pay less attention to the letter grade if it's good (pay more attention if it's bad) and look at the number of complaints and the reasons for them. It's also helpful to see how often a business successfully resolves the complaints it receives through the BBB.

Seeing a business with a lot of complaints and little or no follow-through on resolution is pretty big warning sign.

I'm waiting for the Blackberry app. If you don't have an iPhone, you can find the same information here.
