On Thursday, April 22, a state program launched to provide rebates on purchases of new energy-efficient dishwashers, refrigerators, clothes washers, and freezers.

The program ran out of funds in less than two hours. Interest in the program was so high that the MassSave.com website crashed due to the volume of traffic.

The state has since said it will have another - more modest - rebate program later this summer.
