1. Write a proper letter
Writing a professional resignation letter will set the right tone for your departure. This may seem like an "old school" tradition, but it's critical because it puts your resignation and planned last day of work in writing. You should hand-deliver one copy of the typed letter to your supervisor, and another to the human resources department. Even in today's age, it's never appropriate to e-mail or text your resignation.
Finally, keep the letter clear and concise: State that you are resigning, specify your last day of work, and, if you wish, give a reason for your departure. Always close by thanking your supervisors for the opportunity to work for them.
